Coastal Storm Preparedness and Technology

Program Goal: This program seeks to determine how coastal communities can use Geographical Information Systems (GIS) during an emergency first response situation. Municipal officials will be provided with a range of ideas on how to use GIS for storm emergencies, based on what Connecticut towns are actually doing with GIS.

Learning Objective: To provide a program that can use Geographical Information Systems, and can provide a range of different storm emergencies based on the towns in Connecticut.

Program Components: Workshops for coastal municipalities enable an interchange between municipal officials and Emergency First Responders on the use of GIS in an emergency situation, with Super Storm Sandy setting the stage.
