Faculty & Staff Monthly Newsletter
March 3, 2025
Dear Colleagues,
We are entering one of my favorite times in the academic year: awards season. In a few weeks, we will come together at our annual Awards & Honors event to celebrate students, faculty, staff, alumni, and volunteers who have supported our College's mission over the last year. I hope you will all join us for this beloved tradition.
We also recently learned that two CAHNR students were awarded the Graduate School's inaugural Distinguished Graduate Fellowships. Gayoung Lim from Kinesiology and Keegan Jalbert from Nutritional Sciences shared innovative projects to secure these competitive awards. Their work, respectively, on developing innovative cooling systems and real-time physiological monitoring devices for Connecticut residents; and investigating cost-effective cultivation of a specialized microalgae species as the sole feed for shellfish in inland hatcheries are prime examples of both CAHNR's innovative, impactful research and transformational education. Congratulations to Gayoung, Keegan, and their departments!
At a time when we are still facing considerable challenges, both known and emerging, I am heartened by these opportunities to celebrate the CAHNR communities successes.
As always, thanks for all you do.
Best,
Indrajeet Chaubey
Dean and Director

A New Method to Model How Plants Move Water Globally
Researchers, including NRE's James Knighton, have developed a method to bypass the need for gathering data for over 55,000 tree species to better account for how plants influence the flow of water around the planet.
CAHNR Impacts 2024

CAHNR makes an impact each and every year. We have an annual magazine to highlight some of the phenomenal work being done within our College's research enterprise, academic programs, and Extension activities.
