Together, we grow.
At the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources (CAHNR), we firmly believe that our institution is enriched by the diversity of our community. Our commitment to actively fostering inclusion and equity is founded on a deep respect for the experiences, challenges, and realities of individuals. It is also based on a recognition that systems and structures have historically privileged certain groups and hindered or harmed others. Efforts to address these systems are the joint responsibility of all of us at CAHNR, and we are dedicated to working together to build a welcoming, equitable community where all can thrive.
Dean’s Commitment
Listen. Acknowledge. Enact change. These are the underlying tenets of our mission to create an environment founded on diversity, inclusion, and equity. At the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources (CAHNR), we recognize the need to actively condemn and address the enduring systems of racism that continue to pervade in society. We also steadfastly commit to enacting change that supports racial justice, cultural diversity, and inclusion and equity for our College and University.
The College has taken a multi-pronged approach to ensure that the voices of our students, faculty, and staff are heard and that their experiences are respected. We have continued to prioritize and invest in innovative research, transformational scholarships, and impactful programs to bend the arc in the right direction now and in the future. We work collaboratively with experts at the University and beyond to elevate our efforts and continue to increase the ways in which we support our communities.
We also recognize that these efforts must be sustained and continuously expanded in order to truly make a difference. With the help of all members of the CAHNR community, we will continue to do all that we can to foster a welcoming environment where all can learn, grow, and succeed.

Land Acknowledgment
We would like to begin by acknowledging that the land on which we gather is the territory of the Mohegan, Mashantucket Pequot, Eastern Pequot, Schaghticoke, Golden Hill Paugussett, Nipmuc, and Lenape Peoples, who have stewarded this land throughout the generations. We thank them for their strength and resilience in protecting this land, and aspire to uphold our responsibilities according to their example.
